PS3 compatibility

Hi guys,

I am not a core gamer. have a quick question about PS3 that you guys might know. Can US PS3 game works on the HK/Japanese version PS3 console? I am planning to get PS3 over here... well, since I like to play US football game (2K & Madden), i want to make sure the compatibility before buying the console here.

my xbox console is full with dust... if i couldnt get PS3 this holiday season... maybe i should stick with xbox side getting a 360.

PS3 games are all, according to Sony, region free, so a US game will work on a JP/HK PS3

you should really consider getting a 360, a really great console and the online service is awesome, you can get madden 2007 and NCAA 07 on it

thank you for the info. yeah! most of my friends in the states already have 360 and have suggested me to get it too. the problem is... i only play games once or twice a month... getting 2consoles seem might be too much.

I prefer the 360 for now and highly recommend it. You can always pick up a PS3 in 6-8 months time when there are more games for it.

PS3 is region free as a console but I hear that some games are region locked.

i dont think it is worth getting a PS3 until fall 2007, there are not enough games for it at the moment, well there are only 3 for launch! also dont be surprised to see a lot of faulty PS3 machines around launch time, this was a big problem with the PS2.

The 360 has been out a full year now and there are a lot of games already out and loads more coming out for the holiday season, i mean last week i bought Gears of War and Call of Duty 3 both top games and out this week will be Viva Pinata, Smackdown vs Raw 2007, and Sonic the Hedgehog, next week Rainbow Six will be out and next month Lost Planet.

If your friends have 360 and you get the xbox live service you can use the voice chat feature to save money on overseas phone calls as well as playing games online.
