I have seen another player by SONY - Sony DC-SMPN200 Wi-Fi Streaming Player

I wonder if someone is using any streaming media player.

I also plan to download video files if possible using torrent software

In my experience the China brand network media players are cheap and cheerful, play any format you can throw at them and are there are new models with better software coming out all the time. They can be a little unreliable sometimes though.

This site does reasonable reviews, ignore the prices obviously.

Agreed, I have one that cost me ~RMB400 and it hasn't knocked back any file yet (Including 10GB, 1080P monsters).

    On a related subject...

After a streamlining of my home computers, I now have 4 spare HDDs (2 x 1T, 2 x 500G) and would like to use them for a central media store (With media player and wifi router connected).

Can anyone recommended a solution for this?

I could use an old computer but would rather not, was thinking about a NAS device or similar.

You can get a 4 Bays NAS but, of course, $$$.... Then you may try this USB HDD stands if you got USB connection with your Media Player (My HD600B got 2 USB ports, so 2 of these stands can fit 4 HDD)

Seems that it is not available in HK, it is just avaiable in UK. Need to check Wan Chai computer center.

BTW, How do you use HDD ?? Does streamer download video and store on HDD directly ? or you need to download via laptop and save on HDD ?

Personally, I am using a Synology DS207 NAS running on RAID 1 mirror + a Hi-Media HD600B w/ 2TB HDD. The NAS mainly storing photos and movies that I took from my camera while the Hi-Media is for storing iso ripped from my DVD collections (I have most my DVD ripped and store away in mini storage).
