    Networked DLNA hifi system

Has anyone used something similar to the below to access their music digitally?

It should allow your music on a NAS hard drive to accessed with ease.

yes,via a ps3 (dnla sourced from android xperia tx or arc )which is digitally plugged to av amplfier, cheap and effective way of wireless audio, you can also play youtube on ps3 controlled by android phone

your method is a much simplier option ( but not exactly cheap, at HK$4500)

another cheaper method is dlna via a pc ( with digital out /analog, but u will lose quality unless u have high end onkyo/yamaha sound card) to an amplifier

the cheapest option, plug directly to TV, but tv sound is never great unless it's plugged digitally to av amplifier

It is really to play music from a NAS drive and listen to 102.1 The Edge, Radio 4&5 as well as RTHK 3 on the internet radio. PS3 sounds like clutter. Really don't need a CD player either.

I have similar. It's Yamaha rx-v473. It's available for around $3500. I use it with Wi-Fi, but can be hard wired. Plays files from the home network, internet radio built in. IPod connections, mobile phone apks..I love it.

this slightly different, a mini system (very simple) as compared to a full home cinema amplfier ( has many hdmi, components, optical, co-axial, usb, dlna, 7.1 surround, thus similar to my older amp, far more versilite ( but pricier HK$3000 not including any speakers) and powerful.

just like a ps3 is far versilitile (as plays bluray, watch youtube ( controlled by your phone) and obviously plays games.

i think the op wants a similar mini system with dlna

what as aspect of dlna really attracts you, controlling mp3 songs ( either phone it self or remote) and streaming wireless content or movies?

onkyo will have better sound quality ( for a mini) and it's very convenient

    But there are cheaper options

    http://www.sonystyle.com.hk/products...815871&lang=en

cheapest HK$3200, best equipment and features, dlna, 5.1 bluray, more for ur buck, but not exactly great sound quality ( for music or movies), less connectivty than an av amp, but much better than mini system

has airplay (ipod and ipads) but basic, probably the worst of all

    http://asia.yamaha.com/en/products/a..._l/?mode=model

better features than onkyo, sound quality ( for a mini) on par with onkyo

Yamaha would be great but Tom Lee say no app for Android/Iphone which means of limited use with 1980's style remote
