Cool Advice for my first Wii

Okay, please do not flame me for being a big dork.

I played Guitar hero for the first time last week and now I have visions of having Guitar Hero and Dance, Dance Revolution parties at my place on a regular basis. So, I must get a wii!

I'm going to head over to Wan Chai computer centre to see what my options are, but before I head over what advice do you have for me? Here are my questions:

    1. I may one day go back to the US. Do I buy a US Wii here, and all US games, or do i have another option?

    2. How much should I expect to pay?

    thanks guys,
    rachel

i thought i was the only white guy in hk that played ddr, now that alex is gone...

so either you're chinese (and on fightclub?) or just play at home :P

but wii ddr is pretty awful, ps2 is ok, pc is better; but i only play in the game centers.

I got a modded Japanese version in Shenzhen for 2000RMB. It came with 7 games and power supply for use in Hong Kong.

Even though the menu system is in Japanese, it's quite easy to work out.

I think the American version is maybe $500 or so more expensive.

If you want to play online a lot then it's probably not a good idea to get a modded one.

Better places to buy video games is 188 Wan Chai Road (just a whole building of three floors of video games). And Golden Arcade at Sham Shui Po.

Yes, you should buy a US Wii unless you can read Japanese. Might be more expensive but it makes more sense, especially if you go back to US. Will need to buy a HK power supply adapter to play here though.

Oh, best not to buy Guitar Hero III. Doesn't have downloadable content for Wii. Plus, you might not have luggage space for that guitar back to US.

i think this all *almost* makes sense. For mike, I'm just a white girl who can't dance, but can possibly learn via wii

wish me luck. parties at my place to come

Good luck, make sure to bring a friend (preferably HK Chinese ) who knows his Wii when you go. It gets easier when you just start playing.

Inviting all of GeoExpat to party?! Unless you live in mansion, it'll be packed. Imagine trying to Guitar Hero on the subway during rush hour.
