After a few tries, I think I'll be going with a pair of Shure 215. The Klipsch sounded great, but a friend mentioned they are guide flimsy and break easily.

I saw those after market braided cables, wow, 2k+. Are they really worth the money, do they make that much difference?

The cables are really for nit pickers trying to get some minor tweak to their sound on very high end IEMs. The cables that come with higher end IEMs are usually already pretty good.

If you break a cable it doesn't hurt to try one out.

If the stock cable from the IEMs transfers a lot of noise from it hitting or brushing your chest then the third party cables can be great to decrease that (this is why almost all of them are twisted).
