PS3 Connection - what is best

I have my PS3 connected to my Plasma screen using a cable to the Component input.

I know where are other ways of doing this. Is there a different input i should be using that would result in a noticeable improvement in quality?

You are using the 3 connection (Red Green Blue) type 'Component' cable, i.e. not the single yellow 'Composite' cable?

If the TV has an HDMI input that should provide the best quality but you may not notice too much difference from using 'Component'.

If you are using the 'Composite' input then you would probably see a substantial improvement.

Yep- the component one that splits into red, blue and green.

Would an HDMI cable make any noticeable difference?

I'm not very familiar with the HD capabilities of the PS3 so this may not be valid but I believe that some TVs can only handle full HD (1080P) with an HDMI input.

If this is the case you may notice a difference, otherwise probably not.

I reckon the main benefit with HDMI is that you can get away with using a cheap cable, plus it carries audio data so can help reduce the spaghetti that usually lurks at the back of home entertainment systems.
