    Last.fm like service for HK?

    Hi

Am wondering, has anyone come across a Last.fm like service that is free in HK?

I know Last.fm is available in HK, but at a price. Was just wondering if there are any similar services available for HK users.

    Thanks!

Dude... last.fm only costs 36 Euro (or USD or GBP, but Euros are cheaper) per year, and it's worth every cent. I really doubt there's enough of a market here for a proper streaming service to make it worth anyone launching one - at least not one with the sort of back catalogue last.fm has!

OK, now I just have to find a wifi radio that supports it without the need for my computer to be on.

Yup, that would be cool. Let us know what you find out. There are tons of WiFi radios on the market, but I don't know if they'd work with Last.FM. There's an entire thread on WiFi radios on here--you can get a general overview of what's on the market by checking out Expansys.com.

    Been looking, been looking!!

One way I've done it is launched the Last.fm app on my iphone and plugged my iphone into my ipod dock. Works fine, but a real pain.

One option is the Squeezebox Boom, however it claims that Last.fm will only work in the UK, Germany and USA. Trying to get clarification.

There are some workarounds with a python script using radios that work of the recevia system, but still trying to figure all of that out.

Free Internet Radio Station - HKGFM - Online Streaming Music is good for streaming audio.

Not happy that last.fm started charging. I used to listen to the streaming audio on my mobile to make the commute a bit more bearable. However, let us say I did want to pay for it, the service is not available for mobile phones, so I had to resort to downloading Nokia Radio on my phone, which seems great as you can access hkgfm.net stations using the software.

Good answer to last.fm and finally an English language FM channel in Hong Kong.

Just discovered Music XS , finally, a decent, legal, HK music streaming/download service. It's run by Smartone but you don't need their phones, there's a pure PC version. They do a 14-day free trial.

Kind of like Napster, Rhapsody, Kazaa etc. Chinese music is helpfully separated out from international music so you can easily ignore it. Stuff I've been listening to tonight: Metallica/Death Magnetic; Jet/Shaka Rock; Regina Spektor/Far. I'm impressed with the selection although it's no iTunes.

Trouble is this was incredibly hard to find. Their marketing must be awful (English language marketing, anyway).

PC or mobile only is HK$48 a month and pc and mobile option is HK$96 a month. That is not that cheap, esp when Last.fm is only c. HK$38 a month and will work on both your pc and mobile......

But hopefully its a sign that HK providers will provide some better services.
