I used to play alot of video game..and I take note of the XBOX 360 (big supporter of XBOX products ,I own over 120games, all original, not copy)

XBOX 360 Hong Kong version is most likely to be compatible with Japan NTSC version of games.
but many Hong Kong version NTSC version games are "ALL CODES"....so you won't have trouble to run them in either the USA version NTSC XBOX 360 or the Japan verison NTSC XBOX 360...

honestly, I would buy a USA machine, because some games just never will come out Japan or Hong Kong version.

no news about whether the Hong Kong version XBOX 360 games will be cheaper than the USA version.

NOTE: current XBOX game HK version is only HK$288 comparing to HK$400 for the same game in USA verson (or US$50)

lifetime gamer here...don't mod anything, it's usuallly crap workamship and the constant updates will mean your chip'll be obsolete in a couple of months. did it to my PS2 back in 2001 and it was total garbage.
HK i'd imagine will have the Japan version, that's usually the case in east asia. HMV/HK Records will have English versions tho, for sure.

i heard 6000 initially, but the PS2 was over 5000-9000 here when it first came out in 2000 so who knows.

I have this year from Microsoft.

    Availability:

    North America: 22 Nov

    Europe: 2 Dec

    Japan : 10 Dec

HK, SG, Korea and Taiwan: first half of 2006. (we’ll be having an announcement about this soon )
    and

Q: I can't really figure out if all the consoles (Japan version to be released and others) will anyway have an english menu as an option.

You can set the language for menu for a console purchased in any region to English language (or Chinese, or Korean etc etc) and change the country region at any time.

Q: I guess no worldwide warranty

Warranty is local so warranty returns will have to be sent back to the country of purchase.

Q: Does it have any zone? Zone for games? Movies?

The consoles are region locked. A Japan console for example, is locked to region J (Japan and Asia) for games and region 2 (same as Europe) for DVDs.
Also, spoke to someone within the industry (think of one of the largest toy retailers) and everyone has accepted that a limited number of imports will be brought in from Japan. They should be hitting the markets shortly after the Japan release.

From what I have been told (not by Microsoft but someone in the know). Hold off till the Hong Kong release... let the bleeding edge fan boys suffer the release 1.0 type problems in both hardware and software.

P.S. Let me know if you guys have questions that need to be answered directly by Microsoft -- we have some good connections and will be doing an XBOX 360 for Hong Kong feature shortly.

Good connections? That sounds promising How about a Geoexpat XBox 360 giveaway??

I'm itching to get a next-generation console, but I can probably stand to hold off for a few months. I still haven't decided if I want to wait on the PS3 release or go ahead and jump on the XB360. If only they had Halo 3 ready..

The region-locking stuff is such a pain, though. In the past that meant paying extra to get games for the right region (or chipping your console.. I'm not personally a fan of that, but it is a necessary evil if you want to play multi-region). Now it seems that Xbox live is becoming such an integral part of the experience.. if I buy a Japanese console, won't that keep me from being able to use Xbox Live when I move back to the states? I'm very interested to hear how the region coding affects Xbox live usage.

I don't want to drop a boatload of cash on a Japanese model and then have to buy another console when I move back to the states. I'll probably just have to wait until my next trip home or else get a US version through other channels. What a pain.
