Since all films are inherently available in HD what exactly would these "specific HD offerings" be?

At present it seems they are not piping through them in true HD format, just in SD format, but upconverted from SD.

Also, not all movies are available in HD format (yet).

Really? Seems unlikely to me . What would be the point of that, given that the TV-set/receiver/video processor does at upconversion your end anyway?

The point is, if true, to bullshit the customers into believing they get HDTV and paying good money for it.
But I think an up-conversion is only needed/done if your TVs resolution is higher than that of the signal fed in.

Anyway, thanks for the responses - since I subscribe to the HBO Max Pak Premium I should get channel 110 for free. I shall report back my experiences dealing with the staff and watching the program if I get it.

I have 110 for free - just took a couple of minutes on the phone. The resolution is clearly higher at some level than the standard channel. I neither know nor care how they achieve that to be honest. I wouldn't pay for the difference, but since it's free then no problem.

So I called the sales hotline .... (wait 10 minutes before someone picks up) ... and speak to a sales person who agrees it should be free and transfers me to the customer service department. (wait 2-3 minutes)
That guy checks if my box is HDTV capable, confirming a 2nd time by asking me if it has a HDMI output - which it does. Then says he needs to check something (queue music) ... and comes back to tell me they need to change the box because mine is not suitable for HDTV. Wants to charge me HKD 38 a month for a new box.
I say it's a HDTV box since it has the HDMI output, but he says it wouldn't work and they need to change it and charge me, which I declined.

Will call again tomorrow, maybe I get a different person on the line and they are more co-operative; the website says it's FREE.

The website says it's free for people who already have an HD capable box. If you don't then it isn't.

I do have the HDTV capable box (the silver one, not the all-in-one). I guess he checked the records and found that I am not paying any rental for it since it was waived when I signed up.

BTW: which website are you looking at? I don't see anything mentioned about the box here (click HD Channels, then HBO), only that I need to be a HBO Max Pak Premium subscriber.

You can also find my box on that site, so I think that removes any doubt that I don't have a HDTV box.
