    What is an "ultima invitation"?

Just accepted an offer to move to HK in Jan 2007 from the UK with an IB. I'm in the process of organising my banking arrangement and keep hearing my HR mentioning about an "ultima invitation" - what is it?? Is it some kind of country club or something? Am I meant to know this?? I don't want to appear naive infront of them but they keep mentioning it, drive me mad!!!

Ultima is a high-end (read, expensive) credit card offered by Citibank, so if that is the IB in question I guess that's what it is.

Yes, Ultima is a "high-end" credit card. Not that elite though and certainly offered to all Citibank expat employees. Rates are the same as any other Citibank card though there are various offers and privilidges associated with Ultima: discounted movie tickets, concierge service, club memebership type stuff etc.

Oh! It one of those cards like the Black Amex which is totally overrated. Anyway while on the subject of Credit Card, what credit card is the most optimum to have? I don't buy into the whole exclusive factor thing but just what is the most practical really..... Any recommendation? Is Amex accepted widely in Asia?, I know there are certainly not in Europe.

Citibank Cathay Pacific is quite good with Asia Miles. Im now applying for UOB which gives good cash rebate...

Agree with the whole exclusivity thing. Amex Platinum has HKD 5.5K annual fee and they don't waive it (or they actually do, I don't know) Why would people pay for that?

Are you sure the rate is the same as any other Citibank card? i seem to remember it was quite high?
