I've got a cheque from Singapore and the amount is only around HK$300. I would want to deposit into my HSBC HK account but the fee is HK$100. Is there a way to deposit this overseas cheque cheaply in HK?
Many thanks ahead.

If you are an HSBC Premier customer then talk to your relationship manager and they should be able to waive the fee. Otherwise I don't know of a way, sorry.
Surprised to learn that in this state and age, ppl still use cheques internationally.
Contact the sender to see if he is willing to re-send you the money via Pay Pal which will charge you around $9 (3% fee)..............sure beats $100 that HSBC charges. Furthermore, you may use the fund instanteously without having to wait for weeks for clearnance.
Forget Paypal, that's more like 4% to receive in HK. Then as you are only able to transfer HKD to your bank account, regardless of whether you hold multi currency accounts, you must first have Paypal exchange the money using thier rates which as you may have guessed are more in line with Somalian pirate methods of extorting money.
Not a great way of moving money around Asia.
