Transfer $$ to Pakistan - what is better?

    hello:

i need to transfer some $$ to pakistan, around
100+ usd only. i actually wanted to send it by money gram so i called one of the branch in causeway bay and asked them what kind of information i needed from the other party. then the cashier told me that the other service called "express money" would be better if i send money to there. the ex rate for express money is cheaper and there are places for them to collect the money. i tried to find out "express money" from the internet but can't find any revelant information... other than money gram or express money... any ppl have experience sending $$ to pakistan ? cheers

    Was this western union?

I'd look at the Chungking Mansions money changers and ask them whats the best option.

For that amount I might be tempted to stick some notes in an envelope and mail it!

Isn't this exactly the sort of thing the Hawala networks are for? I assume you could find a Hawaladar in Chung King Mansions somewhere, no?

I have never sent any money to Pakistan but the company I work for regularly receives USD payments from a customer in Karachi via one of the money changers in Chungking Mansions. The method works fine. I go there to collect the money and have never had a problem so it should, in theory, work the other way

If you care to PM me I will give you the mobile number of the Pakistani gentleman who runs the business.
