Recently deposited an USD cheque at a HSBC counter. Service fee is HKD200 . The money was deposited into my account after close to 6 weeks.

Interested to know if HSBC would accept cheques denominated in Fijian Dollars. If so, it may take 6+ weeks for the bank to clear it and you get the deposit.

Why would you accept a non-local check anyway?
Fijian company run by some Mainland guy, sounds like you've been had.

I didn't know the difference between a local and an international cheque until this morning. When I opened my accounts at HSBC five or six years ago, they actually did give me a chequebook, but I thought it's a 'British' thing from the past that I just don't understand as a Mainland(er)-European.

Good news is that my client offered a solution which doesn't involve a chequebook. Anyway, I will drink myself into oblivion now, so if anyone is having a pint right now, please PM me. I'm staying in Wanchai.
