I have a few questions that puzzles me about HSBC.

I know family members who moved away from Hong Kong six years ago and closed all accounts but opened an HK HSBC account from overseas for Scheme 6000. While some family members were able to redeem their cash overseas some others could not as it appears HSBC's rules changed sometime in 2013 that prevents them from withdrawing money overseas unless it meets certain criteria. Just wondering what they need to do to get their money from abroad or do they must make a trip to Hong Kong? Also are there negative consequences if accounts are kept dormant for long I know they become deactivated though what happens to the balance inside will they always be available in the future? They are wondering whether its necessary to make a trip to HK for this and when and if there are any urgency.

Also I heard HSBC mails out bank statements out on the fourth of the month does it show all transactions up to the 3rd of the month? Also usually do HSBC customers in Hong Kong receive bank statements in them mail by the fifth of the month? I didn't really pay attention to this in the past though some one I know needs a bank statement for proof of address soon in Hong Kong so they want to know whats the soonest they can get it.
