RMB Transfers: What does this bit of HSBC-English mean??

I'm trying to transfer RMB from my integrated account to a friend's account (which is also with HSBC, and should have the same foreign currency sub-accounts). I have significantly more CNY in my own CNY account than needed for the transfer. When I try to submit the instructions (after entering the security code), I receive the following error message:

To proceed with your RMB Savings Service application. You are required to make Renminbi exchange within the same integrated account. Please select again. (Code:FEX104)
Anyone understands what the system is trying to tell me? I tried both their old and their new online banking interface.

I would interpret that as meaning you cannot move rmb to another account as rmb. Which would fit with the rules about max rmb transfer per day as otherwise this might get around them

is this on a HK account? in that case it should be CNH and there should not be any limit.

Both accounts are with HSBC HK and I'm trying to transfer RMB to RMB, not HKD to RMB.

You can not transfer your RMB to someone else's RMB account, you need to change it into another currency first.

That's what it sounds like. Withdraw the money from the ATM, go to the branch or write a cheque.

Huh. Funny. Selecting my CNY account as 'from' and selecting CNY as transfer currency was both available as an option. Thanks for the info - do you know if this is an RMB only issue, or does it apply to all currencies?

    Should only be with RMB.
