Smile Opening a Credit Card for someone else from another country

    Hi everyone

I have a question on whether I can open a Credit Card for someone else from another country. The country in which the person I am opening an account for, does not provide any CC service so he asked me if it is possible to have an account open for him. Is this legal? If not, which bank should I use to open an account for him?

    Thanks a bunch!

The only option I see is a prepaid card or a second card on your account.

Opening a credit account _for_ someone else is not possible. However, you could open a CC account and add the person as an authorized user. But it will be you to whom the credit facility is extended - you just allow him to use it.

Taking a credit card in your name and let someone else use it is a terrible idea. You will bear all consequences of that person's spending behaviour.
