Paying in a cheque in the UK while in HK

    Hi everyone,

I received a cheque back in the UK, delivered to a friend's address. How can I pay it in my UK bank, while I'm here in Hong Kong. Last time I paid in a cheque back in London I used some sort of an ATM in a local branch...

Can't you just give your friend your bank account details and ask your friend to deposit the cheque at a branch for your?

Will it work? If so, yes, I'd follow this route...

    Yup of course

You don’t need to be the account holder to pay in cheques or cash

OK, looks like it's possible just to mail the cheque, so this is what we're going to do.

By the end of the year many banks threaten to allow scanning cheques via mobile apps! Britain is catching up to the US of A at last

Yes, mailing is a good option, I have done this a bunch (used to be "sexy" Bank by mail!)

My daughter's US bank (online only) uses cell phone photo of check as the deposit.

this is what i did few years ago. I write a short memo, asking the bunch manager to bank in the cheque, then I post the cheque and the memo together to the bunch. it worked out ok.
