    Cathay Pacific Amex - Insurance

Heading off on a trip soon and was wondering about insurance. The trip was bought with a Cathay Pacific Plat Amex which means that the whole trip should be covered by insurance, underwritten by Chubb.

Have searched high and low but can't seem to find the actual insurance policy anywhere for the Cathay Card. Does anyone have a link to the policy and/or any experience with Chubb? Am assuming that the cover isn't great - correct?

    Thanks!

Bottom of American Express HK page: look for "Important Notice & Cardmember Agreement" link in the tiny footer.

    Or: https://www.americanexpress.com/cont...enus_CM_En.pdf

From my understanding, these policies generally cover the transportation itself (e.g. flight) only and things associated. For example injury from plane crash itself, but by extension you're also covered in your commute to or from the airport to said flight, and perhaps with some additional benefit for lost luggage etc...

It's NOT a sufficient travel insurance policy in terms of coverage to see a doctor if you get sick, or compensation from getting mugged in Napoli. From what I understand, your coverage ends once you're settled in your hotel abroad, and 'resumes' on your commute to your next transport leg booked with the AMEX.

unfortunately i didn't get the Amex one.. the flight got delayed by 1day..
my other AXA travel plan was easy, they just paid eveyone off 1k HKD and closed out the case..
Amex requires you to only claim for that day expenses (i would assume food, and maybe hotel extension) if you have paid by Amex.. and since fortunately i was at home in Sgp i didn't get to use my card at all...

recently reading thru all my travel insurance staffs and realize the claim for delay or flight cancellation due to weather/other non operational reason is actually not easy.. you have to prove the airline/hotel are refusing to refund your money etc.etc.. that makes things tedious...
