Use WeChat in Mainland China with HK bank account?

Apparently it is now possible to pay in China using WeChat HK. I do not have a HK credit card but I do have a bank account here. I see that there is FPS transfer option in WeChat. Can I use this to transfer HKD to WeChat and use them to pay in stores in China (probably in RMB?)

Even if I top up with cash at a 7-11... so how do you guys do when you go to China ?

You can top up your wechat pay Hk account in 7-11 and use the value in your e-purse to pay in China. Wechat pay automatically converts the price in RMB to HK dollars and the rate isn't bad.

However, note that you can only use wechat pay HK to pay in a limited number of stores in China (mostly in Shenzhen only).

I opened a bank account in Shenzhen. So I got a full China WeChat pay (not sure I can use that in HK)

Yeah full bank account is best. However I've had success using it for cabs we took hailed using Baidu maps (I think it was didi and another one). Was able to use Wechat Pay Hong Kong to pay and instant conversion from credit card. Other things even in malls I have had no luck. Only until you have realized how convenient it is in China using the wechat and alipay means, do you really want it lol. Here in HK it's just other types but often cash in some establishments. In China u can even buy from a little fruit stand with wechat (China not HK).

Thats what I would do. I loaded up my HK wechat pay and my HK ali pay and have not had any success using them in the mainland. It's quite annoying for me because whenever I take a taxi in Shenzhen I end up in an argument over paying cash, everyone wants to just zap a QR code and go. One night going from my Shenzhen office to the Shenzhen Bay cross border bus stop our taxi driver straight up refused cash and only when we physically got out of his cab did he change his mind and take it.
