Cool Specialist Bicycle Insurance in HK

An appeal to any HK road cyclists on here who have managed to find insurance for their beloved bicycle here in HK. I've become really frustrated at not being able to find something that will provide specialist cover. My carbon frame road bike is worth around HK$15k and in the event of damage to it I can't find any cover...

Does anyone have a good policy that they can recommend?

I'm looking for a policy that covers
    - 1. Damage to the bicycle itself during use (say, in the event of an accident on the road. I'm not racing, only riding recreationally)
    - 2. Not as crucial as the first, but ideally also cover for the bike during international transit e.g. for a cycling holiday abroad.

In the UK for example there's a huge range of insurance policies specifically for bicycles, but I can't seem to find anything at all in Hong Kong. Some of the UK policies have worldwide cover for holidays, but since I'm not resident there it doesn't work out....

    Thank you!

Just buy home insurance. That should cover your home's content at home and while in transit. Not sure what the conditions would be in case of an accident though.

As for traveling you can buy travel insurance from World Nomads. You can attach additional insurance for your bike when buying it online.

You might want to contact an insurance broker. Kwiksure has been mentioned on these forums occasionally, I haven't used them for ages though.

In all my years of cycling, insurance for the bike has just never come up. It just seems to be an unspoken (and occasionally spoken) understanding that frames are at risk of being completely written off so you ride what you can afford to lose.

For flights, you fly with a good bike bag. Evocs are a popular choice, especially as hardshell cases are a pain in the ass to store in HK.

Try CCW - they might have something that covers bikes, but I do doubt such a thing exists.

Have a GeoExpat related problem - please create a support ticket.

As an insurance broker, I know there is no specialist bike insurance in Hong Kong. We have previously added bikes to a House insurance policy, and they can be covered anywhere in Hong Kong, and overseas for trips. Public Liability would also be included under a House insurance policy.
