Seeking for advice on credit card

I need some advice on choosing credit cards.

I don't really buy anything from overseas but only locally.

I have HSBC visa signature, SC Asiamiles card.
And i put all redhot reward into dining category.
So i'm using HSBC card for dining and online, and SC for other ones.
My wife only has HS student credit card.

I thought having Asiamiles is better than cashback. but it seems that cashback has more value even though the return is smaller than Asiamiles(since approximately 0.1HKD equals to 1miles).

I'm going to buy several stuff which costs 5k, 10k and 80k etc soon.
So i'm also checking for a card which gives much welcome offer.

How would you recommend me and my wife which credit cards to register for?

MoneyHero has a pretty comprehensive credit card comparison (in English too!): https://www.moneyhero.com.hk/en/credit-card/best-deals

If you are flying a lot then Asiamiles are definitely worth more than rewardcash.

If its Asiamiles you need then have a look at the very detailed Flyertalk thread. Newly minted for 2020:

if you are looking at a one time spending event that you are hoping would generate good returns (e.g. moving house, purchasing furniture).. then no point analyzing that much, just look for those welcome offer that gives the best % return (i.e. how much rebate versus spending, within how long) and pay with them, then lock up your cards.

in hk i think the trend is to go for short term gains then cancel the card... only a few cards give good long term rebates (and takes alot of planning, see @bdw)

Thanks a lot for that. Looks like I could have almost gotten twice as many Asiamiles over the years with a different card. Being lazy sure has its downsides
