    Interactive Brokers: HK Account Opening

Plenty of ppl on this forum recommends them.

I just tried to open an account online and it's been painful:
    - scan HKID does not work... do not take pics when it's on focus, take them when it's blurred. I uploaded a semi-blurred pic and hoping for the best
    - link to hk bank account - always get an error message "your account is not eligible for this feature"
    - trying to fund the account - same "your account is not eligible for this feature"

I ended up booking an appointment to "verify my signature" which I hope will lead me to get a fully opened, bank-account-linked account, but... is this the standard account opening, or was I just unlucky?

Because if it's standard, it sucks.

I'm not new to trading, I just like to ask questions
Why do you think it's not "adequate for me in the first place"? Curious (genuine, not provocative!) to understand what your assumptions are

I'm aware of that. I didn't mention in my post (or considered) because it's definitely less hassle to just drop by their office in admiralty

IB's back office function is pretty piss poor, especially so in HK.

I have found them to be borderline rude and condescending in the past, and prefer now to wait till they close, and call the UK branch.

Pretty painless: fill a form, take a copy of the ID card, and the online system was unlocked immediately.

None of the "we apologize for the inconvenience caused" I was prepared for
