HSBC HK sometimes have decent fx rates.....not near to IBKR of course, however, sometimes I have exchanged and received more than would have via wise or OFX or similar......so double check.....

Also sometimes HSBC expat (if you have it) do have some decent FX offers.

Yes...especially for 50k+ GBP.......give them a rate to beat and they try (but needs to be in UK office hours to get approval from treasury in Jersey)

I've always found HSBC Premier cheaper than Wise for USD HKD and GBP HKD for any non-trivial amount. You can also offset some of the fees with time deposit offers if that's your thing.

I did use wise for around a year when I first got here, until I had my IBKR account fully set up on both ends after which has been significantly cheaper.

You're probably still only talking a hundred quid or so on £50k though so probably below some people's hassle threshold.

Also you should post your wise referral link here - I got a few payouts from them for various family referrals back in the day - no reason not to go for it here!!
