SCB not working with Google and Samsung Pay

Seems to be for "security reasons".

SCB have "temporally" stopped allowing people to add cards to either Google or Samsung Pay for "security reasons".

When calling to query (because I couldn't add a card) they didn't know when it started, when it would end and what the security reasons were.

No notifications about this anywhere. Google support page still shows ability to add SCB cards. Likewise nothing on the SCB website about this.

I see Hong Kong customer service is maintaining it's usual high standards. I hope they at least tried to cross sell you a useless financial product when you called them....

May be not upto Japanese standards.. but I've found HSBC and Amex to be super efficient and responsible... and in HK. HK Electric .. gas company etc etc ... all work to levels of expectation.

Just saying.. SCB is in a league of its own.

As a long term customer of Amex (HK) I would agree.... as a long term customer of HSBC (HK) I would roll on the floor laughing at the idea of them being super efficient. But both are much better than Japanese banks which set new standard for inefficiency and making everything as hard as possible to achieve.

So found the notices on SCB's website. It's from end of May and they still haven't resolved it!! On top of it they still continue to advertise the fact that they support Google and Samsung Pay (which I guess they do if you have an existing card wit them).

Removed the CX card from Google pay .. too much drama.

About @TheBrit - About HSBC, by efficient I don't mean they (HSBC) can make everything work as you want it. They very efficiently tell you shit is not possible or possible. The ratios vary depending on how complex your needs are .. from withdrawing cash from the ATM to more complex things like intermediary banks..

They were clearly on the ball with intermediary bank payments.

    NOT.

If I had more time I would consider making an official compliant to SCB and then bringing it to the HKMA's attention.
