DBS Eminent card is useless in 2024 - used to get 5% on any dining/medical services/sports shops. Now there's minimum spend 300 HKD for transaction to qualify for extra cashback, most of my dining will not qualify.

Any good card for those who spend a lot in foreign currency in 2024?
I spend around 30-40k per month on foreign spend, currently on Visa signature with all reward cash booster to foreign spend....
It's 3.6% up to 100k, which will max out by end of Q1...

SCB Simply Cash will get you 2% cashback on that.

Alternatively can try a card that earns you miles?

So for 2024 thinking of going down the miles route again as cashback cards are not as good as they used to be.

Seems easiest options are HSBC Every Miles at 5HKD for 1 mile for multiple ffps or SCB card for CX where it seems to be 6HKD per mile locally and 4HKD per mile abroad and online? Seems no caps for these?

2% cashback just gives you back 1.95% markup on exchange rate that bank has charged you. IMHO if spending a lot in specific currency, e.g. back in home country, better to get some card from there, to avoid exchange fees.

Look for promos.. HSBC often has reward top ups for overseas spend targets. They work well with the Everymile conversion rate.

Have been getting tonnes of miles from the HSBC everyMile.....also, through the rewards app, they run promotions where you can get 10% (sometimes 20%) extra mileage ON TOP of all the miles earned already.......so far so good.

Fair point. For foreign currency I use SCB Smart Card at the moment. No foreign currency mark up and about 0.5% cashback.
