    Can you elaborate a bit on this? I wasn't aware at all (unless you mean the $10k cap)

    There is introduction of 1% charge when even though payment currency is in HKD, payment is processed outside of Hong Kong.

    Oh, sorry - yes, I missed that: Visa Infinite 4% reward is capped at HK$25,000 spend per month.

    I use HSBC RED for it's 4% discount on online shopping.
    HK is a f small place. There aren't THAT many online shops. So a ton of what I buy now get's charged 1% like I just bought it in a different currency. It's frankly outrageous and makes the 4% discount a lie. It's really 3.x% (closer to 3 as majority of my purchases get charged extra)

    So the HSBC Red Hot Rewards of Your Choice scheme is now open for registration for calendar year 2025. As far as I can tell the terms are the same as this year: 2% extra reward cash on one of 5 categories of spend, up to a limit of $100,000 of spend ($2000 of extra reward cash) in the calendar year. Plus an additional $1000 as a one-time bonus if you reach $150,000 of spending on your eligible cards in the year (effectively, therefore, getting 2.4% on that $50,000 of spend).

    Note that this scheme does not apply to the Red card or the EveryMile card. If applied to the plain HSBC Visa Signature (i.e. not the EveryMile Visa sig) then the effective rate is 3.6% in your selected category. But note that if you want to maximise this you should then use your Visa Sig ONLY for the selected category otherwise you will waste some of your $100K quota on the other 4 categories where you will only get 1.6%.

    Sign up and make your category selection via the Reward+ app.

    Taobao, iHerb, Aliexpress, HKTVmall, are these all classified as online shops for HSBC Red? What other shops do you guys use?

    For me the biggest is probably:

    https://www.xtrawine.com/hk/en

    They have quite a good selection of grower champagnes as well as Italian wines.

    A few restaurants are rolling out Qlub which allows you to split bills at the table. Not sure if they have an online merchant code.

    It would be really useful to have a list of restaurants that require one to learn/download an app in order to have dinner, just so those of us who don't regard this as an appropriate part of the dining experience can avoid going there...
    @shri - maybe a new thread somewhere?
