    2025 - Credit Cards / Deals / Discounts / Cashbacks

Got a notice from PrimeCredit for their EarnMore UnionPay credit card term changes in 2025.

They had 2% flat cashback on all spends credited back in statement every month except Octopus AAVS (it gets 1%) - up to HK$150,000 spend/annum. For 2025, this has now been brought down to 1% for all spends and 0.4% for Octopus AAVS.

Seems, SCB Simply Cash is alternate with 1.5% flat on everything. There is also Citi Cashback card which gives 1% back on everything and 2% back on dining.

Also 2% back on hotels, which is very useful for those of us who live in serviced apartments here.

Citi Cashback is my default card at this end of the year now that I've done my $150K on RHRYC on the HSBC Visa Sig, and after the $10K/month for online on HSBC Red.

It does seem to me that there is a co-ordinated pull-back by all the credit card companies at the moment - good kickbacks are getting harder to find, or at least require a lot more managament over a lot more cards given the caps on many of them.

Yeah PrimeCredit's offering keeps getting worse. One thing I haven't seen on a statement in years is an annual fee, which if found I believe they'll waive if you call them.

In addition to the further reduced cashback on the PrimeCredit EarnMORE Credit Card, they're adding a 1% foreign transaction fee for transactions not completed in HKD. You can see their 2025 changes at https://www.primecredit.com/wp-conte...Eng_202410.pdf (scroll down for the English version)

SCB Simply Cash didn't work for what I wanted, and I don't want to mess with Citi HK again, so I guess I'll just accept that PrimeCredit's AAVS rewards are as bad as HSBC's AAVS rewards.

PrimeCredit WeWa card's 6% rebate on designated mobile payments like ApplePay and UnionPay QR code is now extended till March 2025 from December 2024.

If you get an invite on the app, try ZA Credit. Virtual CC. 3 to 3.5% cashback (including Octopus AAVS) for the first six months + $200 as a welcome offer upon the first 3 spendings.

in general those welcome rebate to lure applicants to the card is alot higher.. just estimate around HKD 1000~1500 value to be juggled however they want. some give you 10% rebate for first 2 months, some make it 6months, etc.etc.. But those are not the standard rebate that we want to see running after the welcome period.

Applied, but no luck on the invite for the promotion. Thanks anyway.
