Query, has anyone on Geo tried to make a claim with their CC travel insurance / travel accident insurance?

If so was the claim easy / successful?

I mean sure all these places offer the insurance, but ultimately its about actually trying to make a claim.

I've never tried to claim on any, but Mrs Lam made two claims against an annual AXA Policy (taken out directly with them) last year and both were paid in full with no drama (and one of them was about 20 times the premium paid).

What I meant was that the free insurance coverage appears to be a special offer valid for one year between "April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025". After 31 March 2025, the insurance lapses, unless the offer is renewed by CITI?

i think its very different between a direct travel insurance (incidentally i have claimed several times successfully especially with typhoon/weather delay, etc)... and one that is tied to credit card.

I remembered trying to claim against an Amex policy for a typhoon delay, and they said you only can claim if you pay your hotel stay/food/expenses in Amex card.. but if you didn't then too bad its not covered.. etc.etc.. little things that might tick you off.
I think if i am stuck in a place, i would probably go online and book a room, and if unfortunately hotel.com or booking.com doesn't take Amex, you are screwed.

I guess this is what I am trying to drive at. Are these CC insurance programs worth the paper they are written on?

for me, since that one time where the chub policy linked to amex cathay card (you can tell how long ago that was) told me i can't claim because i did not clock my emergency expenses in amex card, i gave up on those CC linked insurances. won't be useful for me i guess.

Most credit card offers (eg reward schemes, fee waivers, etc) are time limited. Mostly they are renewed, sometimes not. This CitiPM insurance has been running for many years.

Again, the insurance is a PER TRIP insurance. I have recently paid from my flights for a trip in January using the CitiPM card. I will, therefore, be covered by this insurance for the duration of that trip (and only for the duration of that trip).
