Hi 10 years back I buy prudential life insurance , where my agent clearly said I can wish to continue or cancel after 10 years. And if I cancel after 10 years, I will get a lump sum amount . And now, since I am not sure to stay in hk for future, so I decided to cancel . My agent said I will only get a fraction (4 to 5%) of what I paid till this 10 years as this is surrender. Due to moving of rooms many times within this 10 years, I am not sure about my contract so I asked her to send me copy of my contract . She send it , where I have my signature where it states benefit term: whole life , premium term 40 years…I really don’t remember signing if I see whole life and 40 years. But the date in contract is 1 month wrong, I met my agent and buy insurance in June , but the contract date is of July.
so now I am confused , since I might not stay in hk so I don’t want to continue my insurance as the premium goes up every year and is costly. And if I want to cancel I get just a tiny fraction of what I paid. I want to file a complaint against her but my case is weak I believe.
Please don’t trust your agent blindly . They will mis sell you the insurance, give you false statement at beginning.
