International transfer from the US - intermediary bank

    Hi guys,

Normally when I transfer money from the UK, I just sent it directly to my account in HK (swift code HSBCHKHHHKH I think) and it arrives and all is well.

However I have some funds coming from the US and HSBC mentioned that they have an intermediary bank in the US that can receive the funds.

I was just wondering if there was any benefit to me in using an intermediary bank or just having the money sent direct to Hong Kong?

    Cheers!

i transferred some money from HSBC HK to US (via intermediary bank) recently and the commission charge was lesser than what western union wanted to charge me.
