    Notary Public

Can anybody recommend a reasonably priced English speaking Notary Public.

I have a client over on Monday and he may need to sign a document in front of one.

    Thanks

    Please define "reasonably priced".

I have been quoted HK$1k for such work.

I would consider $1k reasonable, in the past we have been quoted $2.5K +

Edit - In fact just checked the files and we paid $3,160 for one document last time!!!

Can you PM me in that case, can recommend someone. You will have to check with them directly on fees and KYC etc. For me they were offering a certain rate partly because they would not need to run KYC and we have referred work to them in the past.

    Oaths

Is it absolutely necessary to sign in the presence of a Notary?
    How about Commissioner of Oaths?
You can sign the document is his presence and it is free.
The office is in the basement of The Centre. 99 queens road C.

The document is for a new Singapore Company and i understand it to be a Singapore requirement for it to be signed in front of a Notary Public if signed outside of Singapore.

Pin - PM sent, i need this information fairly urgently.

    Thanks

It looks like Singapore is not a party to the Hague Convention, though Hong Kong is. Strange.

The Singaporean Consulate will provide notarial services for HK$6-30, but they don't come to you...

FYI, in the UK, every solicitor is considered a "Commissioner for Oaths" and, thus, able to verify signatures in the same way as a Notary Public. I do not know if that is also the case in Hong Kong and, in any case, Singapore can ignore that equivalency if it wants to (as it is not party to an international convention that would require it to).
