Business Promotion Using Leaflet / Flyer

    Hi,

Does anyone here have experience in using leaflet / flyer service in HK? Everyday I see flyers handled out to stores and offices, but do not know how effective it is.

    Thanks,
    J

IMO its not effective, at least for my biz. We did 2000 once and got about 2 calls.

The problem is, it's not targeted...they're just handed to random people...most people don't even read them...

If you do it yourself it can be effective...you deliberately target your mark, be enthusiastic and smile, etc....it's horribly inefficient in my opinion...

Social networking. Magazine ads. Sponsorship.....all of these are better.

I think it fundamentally depends on what you are selling. If you are a shop on the 46th floor of a building, handing them out in the street right by your lobby might encourage a few people to come in. But if you are something more specialist you are better to find a way to target your customers as INXS suggests.

Yes. That's a good point. I know a guy in Yuen Long who has a sunglasses shop on the 5th floor of an old building...he pays a boy $200 a day to stand downstairs doing flyers...he needs to do it...the problem is, 99% of people walking by, also walked by yesterday, and the day before, and the day before....

We sometimes have tutorial centres handing out flyers outside the kindergartens...also a waste of time as the only ones that get read are the ones in the schoolbags..

Ask the 'ladies' on Shanghai Street, I see them distributing flyers standing outside a doorway in their stilettos and they get loads of men interested........

What INXS said. People consume things very differently these days and you can easily target the people you want to in a much more effective way. Flyers are a waste of paper for the most part. What's your business?

    I sell toners and inks.

Does anyone have experience with distributing flyers / leaflets to offices directly? Yeah, sometimes when I walk pass streets on busy areas, I see alot of ladies handing out flyers but not much success. It's really taking chances of handing out to the right target at the right time.
