Lightbulb Starting an online business in Hong Kong

Hey guys me and a group of entrepreneurs want to start a small online business and I was wondering if we need to be legitimized through paperwork etc. Basically, do we have to be registered under a company name or can we just start selling our product to potential customers without one? I am currently 18 years old and I have a business plan I want to initiate with a small group of people. Is it possible?

What goes to my mind first...

    Are you in HK?
    Are you HK resident?
    Where are the customers?

Generally it's a good idea to make it legal with a company etc. But I am aware that many people just do is privately.

I'm planning to directly sell my product/services to small local business in HK

Do you think this is a feasible plan?

If everything is in HK then back to your initial question:

do we have to be registered under a company name?

    Yes. It's very easy anyway.

Interesting, can you please elaborate on registering a company name? We don't really have much money to start with.

No, you don't need to set up a company. Read this: Setting Up Business in Hong Kong - Chapter 2 Sole Proprietorship | HKTDC

Feasible depending on the product/service you're providing.

Don't forget that if your target audience is local they tend not to buy online as they rather physically see the product etc first.
