Dear All,

I’ve tried to do my own research in deciding Sole Proprietorship, Limited Liability Corporation or being taxed as an individual. I am a medical doctor working privately and I’m not so familiar with all the business stuff. I can see a LLC is good strictly from protecting myself from a liability perspective but obviously a lot of yearly maintenance and costs.

If I’m understanding Sole P. vs LLC the tax difference is below. Which seems I’ll save as LLC or Sole vs as someone personally being taxed?

Tax Rate
Assessable profits Corporations Unincorporated businesses
First HK$2 million 8.25% 7.5%
Over HK$2 million 16.5% 15%

If I don’t care for the liability protection…wouldn’t a Sole Proprietorship save me the most tax wise? Are there more deductions I can make as a LLC I can’t make as a Sole P?

Any help appreciated
