I have established a sourcing office years ago here in HK initially. Sourcing electronics etc..and used Liaison Office / Rep office.
I was alone here, did not need to directly procure / make shipments, payments. Just made contracts on HQ Behalf. So, no company accounts, no bookkeeping no tax filing..no headaches.
Expenses managed with funds coming into personal account. Had a business license ( BR), and was able to secure my employment visa.
So, depends what you want to do. I used a consultant to establish but it's not difficult to do on your own. Government offices are efficient and helpful here!
