Buying a Business in Hong Kong - Visa Question

At the present time I have an active HK GEP working visa, and am not currently under any company contracts.

If I wanted to buy a company in HK in my field opposed to starting a new one, what happens to my visa situation? Am I able to apply for the investment/entrepreneur visa following my acquisition of the business? Or are such visas only granted to those starting brand new businesses? I plan on working to grow and expand the company I acquire, which would include me doing everything IMMD wishes for those on an investment visa to do..

My GEP visa expires this year. Would I be able to legally acquire a business in HK without any sort of active HK working visa? Or does it not matter at all/have any effect on my ability to obtain the investment/entrepreneur visa?

Does anyone have experience or insight into this?

    Thank you.

Drop InvestHK a line they should be able to guide you. It is their job to facilitate investments in HK.

A functioning and revenue earning company might be able to sponsor you .. but the devil is in the details.. it's not just about buying a random company..
