Are you local or of Chinese ethnicity? Doubt these folks would want someone poking through their belongings.

focus for low income levels for a lower rate
I'd probably pivot on this idea and throw in an emotional twist to the service - say things like organising your kid's learning area and teaching them how to stay clean & focused etc ... Find some test cases where the parents can give you some glowing reviews...

"After Chekki organised my kid's study area, they passed their exams with flying colors and got into Cambridge..."

    "Better than Marie Kondo..."

I feel there is little or no value add to just "decluttering" ..

I think the pricing may need to be tweaked & take into account sq ft. Some private apartments can be as small as 200-300 sq ft & public housing could be double or more

I come from a family of hoarders... don't underestimate the painfully slow and emotional nature of trying to declutter someone even if they know they should/have to. I definitely can't see that working at all unless you are Chinese.

There were quite a few 90/100 year olds who passed away in the block while I was living in my last apartment. Standard practice was to dump all the clothes, mattress, plastic storage boxes, and other general clutter somewhere near the bins and wait for the cleanup fairies to work their magic several weeks later. Our building management and security was totally hands off and useless though.

I’m local. Wow! This is a great idea for the service pitch

I’m local. That’s a great idea! I can add this on the my service. Guess what, you made my day as you said “They passed their exams with flying colors and got into cambridge..” hahahaha.

It’s not my purpose to copy Marie Kondo. My business should be apart from other decluttering/organizing business.

I will take your advice in consideration to remove the term “decluttering” out of the service.

    thanks

The pricing is just an example. It’s definitely more than $100 an hour.

I have been considering to quote the rate by the size of the apartment. If I do so, this will be very new to me to calculate the size.

how long have you been here? generally people want the certainty, so that means a quote with a fixed price, you will have trouble billing hourly rate, unless you are lawyer, because people will argue about the number of hours, e.g. if you try to bill 1.5 hours they will argue its was only an hour.

Thanks for your honest opinion. Well, I’m local but I was born and raised in Europe.

I believe that locals will trust another local in which you are right. My Cantonese is not advanced but I can communicate with them based on describing of my business etc.

This is one of the reasons that my business idea can be useful. Management and security won’t really take care of it, since it’s not their job duties.
The estate management can contact me if they need a removal service etc. People pass away daily.

I have been here since 2018. If I really want to stick with hourly rate, I’ll have to let the clients know of uncertainty that the service might be completed 30minutes earlier or later.

If it comes to quote time size of the room or the entire flat, that might be a better solution since the clients will not complain of how fast or slow I work.

There are social workers who do this work as community service.
