Here is my true story.

Are you still in HK? I am not sure if there are any legal issues for a director. Maybe a good idea to avoid HK by all means when traveling, and China.

The thing is my company is already bankrupt and it cannot afford the registration fees and everything.

I guess if you never wanted to be a Director of a business again HK, never lived in HK ever again or anything like that for a minimum period of 7-10 years (not sure about the debts to government authorities).....then you might 'get away with it' (so to speak).

Also, working for financial services companies or listed companies at a senior position may be problematic. As outside business interests and failed / non-compliant companies could get your employment offer retracted...
