    Trademark registration in China

    Hi

Wondering how difficult is it to registrar a trademark in China? What is the ball park if I find some accountant/agency/lawyer to do it for my company?

    Thanks!

The legal basics are covered in the link below:

    English

For a PRC lawyer to do it, I've seen charges from a couple thousand US$ up, but the only firms I am familiar with are larger and more expensive. There are agencies that are less expensive, but not sure about their reliability. Haven't dealt with any personally.

The big issue is with enforcement in China...

The Hong Kong Productivity council might be a good place for you to start.

Here are a couple of links:

(They have a fully owned subsidiary in Guangzhou that apparently does this...)

    Productivity (Guangzhou) Consulting Co., Ltd.

    and

    HKPC

The person listed on the above page is a CEPA consultant.. so I assume he'd be aware of mainland issues.

    Thanks all

You simply cannot avoid people using your trademark and/or mimicking it. But official proper registration will save your arxe from someone registered yours hostilely and tried to extort your money like what happened to G2000 in HK.
