    a good start would be to go to the lands registry to find out under whose name the title is held right now. it might not even be the father of your ex...

    Solicitor will probably do the job. Estate agent will take you to theirs.

    Called my wife and she told me where I could possibly find the deed to the house. Dug around for about an hour and I have found it, but it looks like it's still in her grandmother's name. Her grandmother died way back in 99. So any advice on what I do now?

    If the property is in the name of Grandmother, then legally all her children are beneficiaries. Best to contact a lawyer, to sort this out for you.
