Housing in Tung Chung is set to double which means much more public housing available soon - Public housing will drive other price go down.

Tung Chung could be twice the size - The Standard

If there is a need to expand the population on Lantau and build more flats, why doesnt some braniac build something on top of Sunny bay? How many years has this excellent piece of infrastructure been sitting there underutilised? Wake up people, there is an MTR station in the middle of nowhere sitting on Lantau doing nothing except transferring people to Disneyland and extending everyone else's commute time by a couple of minutes each way. How can the govt be so stupid as to build an MTR in the middle of nowhere and then not even use it properly for decades??!!

I have often wondered this question myself. Bizarre, absolutely bizarre.

Is the land sold to a developer already, who is waiting for the 'right time'?

The same government who decide to pump billions into Disneyland, when HK already had / has a decent enough theme park.

The government of HK is the main shareholder of Disney so they can't allow it to fail, despite the fact it hasn't been profitable for years. But why they have not used the land near to Disney to utilise the MTR station, now that I have no clue!

But where exactly are they going to put up these new flats? Will they go in front of Caribbean Coast?

From 2007, but may give some hints to current status: https://www.google.com/search?q=%22p...use+serious%22

Interesting suggestion, not only is there an MTR station, there is a sizeable bus terminal (only used for the bus going to DB) as well a fairly big car park too. The bus terminal could be used by a number of bus routes that stop at the Lantau Link toll gate - ok, I keep on dreaming
