    Investment Simulators?

I am looking for a very realistic investment simulator - something that factors in HK costs (comissions and other costs, stamp duties, etc) based on real stock market data?

Is there something where you could go "here's my portfolio"....

    Broker A - Commissions x% - Portfolio of stocks
    Broker B - Commissions y% - Portfolio of stocks

This base can then be experimented on by multiple people for a fixed time - 6 to 12 months?

@Stoob - I don't think "All on black" is a long term teaching exercise. And while you may laugh about this, I am familiar with one super ultra high net-worth family that does have a a couple of people who are involved in "investing" in Jockey Club driven investments.

I am trying to find something for a group of friends who are interested in a collective exercise.

it is more of a teaching / learning exercise. 6-12 months is enough to get started with the basics in my opinion.

Basics of investing and trading - learn
Split and A/B test of short term vs long term (don't need to trade every day), nervously - learn / teach

Added: Part of it is just building up confidence in a real life scenario and discipline / not panicking etc.

Then perhaps layer in some automated strategy - say you want to buy on the way down and sell on the way up as a part of the portfolio.

I think excel with some automated feeds might be the best way to go.

@Beuze - Let me check that out. Was not aware of Google Finance integration with spreadsheets. Might work perfectly with some code for split testing.

The Yahoo API is also great, but who knows how long that will be around...

On a tangent, another interesting API to look at: https://permid.org/ (yes, I'm biased)

To add to that this one was also mentioned earlier in the diversification thread.

And it works with Google Sheets
