    Early Age Investment Planning

    Hi everyone,

I'm in my late twenties, relatively new to investing (besides random shares now and then, not a very disciplined or informed approach). I've gotten interested in financial independence lately, doing as much reading and learning as I can. A lot of the blogs online don't really discuss how to invest from a HK/ Asia perspective, so it's great to have some takeaways from wiser and more experienced investors who live in HK.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the info that's been shared on here, and I'd love to join if there are future meetups/ drinks

The biggest thing you can do is stay away from financial planners / advisors in HK.

Like jrkob suggestion .. read this forum - I've moved your post out the retirement planning forum to the investments forum.

Definitely, have been cold called by a few, don't know who's been selling them my info (some even have my name)! Stopped answering calls from unknown numbers now..

Usually friends / colleagues / LinkedIn (esp if you are getting these calls in the office) - some IFAs will offer a bounty to people if they give them 5 contacts.

My 15 year old got cold called by someone selling Art Investments, I guess he had put down his real info for some random lucky draw at some fair.

    Did he entertain them?

Would be so cool of him, if he had followed up with them, set up a meeting and showed up there in full Spiderman gear (ok maybe not Spiderman but you get the gist) that would have been quite sthg!

Haha, that's hilarious! I had cold callers open with "I can give you free cruise ship tickets, just come out for a 10 minute meeting." Almost tempted...
