    This needs to be taken with some caution. Let's not forget GE. Once thought of as a true industrial icon. Holding on to it over the long-term resulted in less than desirable consequences for long-term investors and funds

    and obviously even stocks like enron, lehman, even citibank and aig, are all fantastic blue chips at one time... they might be now, but pricing is single digit percentage of what they used to be

    This sounds like a diversify issue, not a buy and hold one.

    This is why you buy a market ETF rather than shares in specific companies.
