What are you trying to achieve?

IB and I think Saxo offer some amount of API access.

I've never done this before. So I am not really sure what I should do.

I will likely deploy less than HK$100,000 initially. Find something worth buying in the morning (eg, based on technical indicators) and then sell it before end of day, hopefully at a profit. Nothing kept overnight.

I guess I will focus on equity warrants.

What software should I use for IB or Saxo? Do I need to subscribe to some feed?

    thanks in advance.

You will not find here what you're looking for.
Check the following subsections at EliteTrader to get you going (you will need to filter what's constructive and the garbage):
    - order execution
    - automated trading
    - technical analysis
    - programming
    - risk management, and
    - retail brokers

    Good luck to you.

@jrkob - that site is really good .. but very seductive in all the wrong ways for the wrong person!

He'll need to be selective, yes. Some of the regulars over there are worth following for what the OP wants to do. Once he figure out which ones, he can mute the rest of the board (the garbage) ! Also, most of the questions he should be asking himself most likely have been answered a few hundred times over there.
The equivalent of the "how can I cash out on my MPF", and "how do I get a work visa" on Geoexpat !!

This thread for example is very relevant to him:

will have expensive tuition fees to to pay before you even see some probably profits...
I would say FX is probably the better market to do that compared to HKEX
