    The biggest problem is the concentration of half investment into HSBC. that is grossly mismanagement.

    Yep. Back the the right company for long enough and you're rich. The first problem with that approach is that the number of wrong companies massively outnumbers the number of right companies. The second problem is that just because a company is "right" for a while doesn't mean it will remain "right" - odds are it won't.

    A comparison of the largest companies listed on a stock exchange over even as little as 20 years shows just how few companies fall into the buy and hold forever camp.

    If you want a steady income from HSBC, buy its bonds not its shares.

    There is a reason they call the asset class 'fixed income'.

    unfortunately this is hk, nothing beats seeing your stock on the top volume list and you have the bragging rights of nailing it at, say, HK$100, many years ago...
