    Part of the plan to tighten China's grip is probably to seize any opportunity of reduced HK asset prices to buy them up. I believe there was a directive to SOEs to do exactly that.

    Stats on what they have been buying are on the HKEX and aastocks page...

    That's the summary and does not offer a view about SOEs trying to buy HK companies. I suspect they are keeping Chinese listings boosted.

    Yeah, SCMP article claimed they were mainly buying "ICBC and CCB".

    I think it would be difficult for them to take a controlling stake in any of the major HK companies. It just wouldn't be possible for many of the major entities.

    I'm guessing its just institutional/state money being pumped into a market with alot of upside.
