He was buying dollar calls, so however much he lost the IB traders were happily pocketing them since i doubt the traders will do much background hedges.. maybe just buying some delta which incidentally did went up in value over the last 1.5 years (for like 2 cents, in contrast to the 20 or 50c expectation stroke by KBass).
