So I take it as max USD 500k coverage. That's still much better than the HKD 500k coverage you get with HK's version of SoFi/Saxo/IB if I understand correctly?

I was reading for TD Ameritrade that they have a $25 withdrawal fee for cash transfers back into your bank. Is that $25usd or hkd?

    Pretty sure it's USD.

Im looking to move my positions from Interactive brokers to TD Ameritrade, as they recently went to the $0 commission model which is consistent with whats going on in the US.

Does anyone know how much the transfer fee would be to do this? I can't seem to find it on the Interactive brokers website.

I am also transferring to TD Ameritrade as they seem to have the SIPC protection (in case of nuclear scenario), whereas IB does not have the same coverage for US trading.

I don’t have an answer for you, but please let us know how you find TD once you have moved as I am also considering moving.

If you have big enough account balance, TD Ameritrade will likely credit you the fees the previous broker charges for the move if you ask.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet as it seems lately, there has been some unacceptable down time with TD platform (in the US).

Alot of people have been complaining about the downtime and also worse fills since they went $0 commission. I suppose thats the tradeoff with going to a $0 commission strategy.

I'm still contemplating whether to make the switch. The SIPC protection is the one thing that appeals to me, as I will hopefully be putting a substantial amount of money in the account.

Possibly will just keep my IB account open and simultaneously open a TD account (for long stocks etc.)

Exactly why I am consideeing them. I don't know of any other broker that offers SIPC protection to HK residents. My broker only offers 20k Euros protection.

Only thing is that I can buy fractional shares with my current broker and I believe that's not the case with TD? I don't really want to fork out 3k+ USD everytime I want a bit of Amazon, for example.
