MPF when not a PR anymore

Hi, if I leave HK for good and will not return in 3 years, I will lost my PR as an expat, I have the following questions:

    1. What will happen to my mpf? Do I need to withdraw it or I can keep it until 60 yo?

    2. If I need to withdraw, is this taxable in my home country?

    3. What is the cheapest and safest way to transfer internationally?

    4. If no need to withdraw, can I get the mpf yearly and not lump sum after 60 yo?

    Thank you.

You don't lose your PR. You go from Right of Abode to Right to Land status.

And the MPF rules are the same for you as for a non PR.

    1) if you leave HK you can withdraw once, or you can keep until 65.

    2) it’s taxable in northern Somalia

    3) cheapest isn’t safest. But HSBC to HSBC cross border is free with ‘one’

    4) No, lump sum only, at 65

To add to that, you can withdraw if you have left hk permanently and don't intend to return.

It does not affect your PR status and you can return and open an mpf account one more time - this time you will be required to keep it till 65.
